Heat Cycles in Dogs

  1. Heat cycles can last as long as 21 days.

  2. Dogs will usually go into heat two times a year.

  3. Symptoms of a dog in heat are: spotting, swollen vulva, anxious behavior, etc.

  4. If you are planning on breeding your dog, you should start to breed them after the 9th or 10th day of going into heat. Try to have the dogs tie at least twice, with two or three days between each tie.

  5. A normal pregnancy usually lasts 61-63 days

  6. You can spay a dog that is in heat, but the surgery is more complicated and more
    expensive.
