Preventative Care
Our focus at Fairfield Veterinary Hospital is on the prevention of health problems. The following is a brief summary of our recommendations. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Intestinal Worms
Over 70% of puppies and kittens get intestinal worms from their mothers during fetal development or by nursing. Therefore, we recommend routine worming of all puppies and kittens at 8 and 12 weeks of age.
Mature dogs and cats should have an intestinal parasite examination yearly in conjunction with their booster vaccinations if they are not on a monthly dewormer. Please bring in a fresh stool sample (less than 24 hours old) with you to your pet's examination if possible.
